dear writers, follow your bliss
i get that women often don't have as much faith in themselves as they should, and sometimes its really difficult to say no to money and rock out doing what you love—especially because, hey, we kinda need a certain amount of cash to, you know, eat. and live. and...yeah, shop.
this being said, we walk a fine balance between the checkbook and emotional satisfaction. mitali perkins has been feeling it; isolde has been feeling it. i'm stressing about it in the upcoming move to scotland, and yeah, lets face it, for any writer in the first half of their career, it's a struggle.
but ladies, never let anyone tell you how best to make your money. don't ever sacrifice your emotional health to make a paycheck. if you hate the job, let it go. if it doesn't drown you completely, give it a shot, see if you can make it work. i'm a huge fan of sleep when you're dead—i love working until i'm exhausted. hard work is really good for you, and it will pay off--as long as its not work thats not worth working hard for (try saying that ten times fast).
so follow your bliss. live the life uncommon. live your dreams, work until you can't take it any more, and see where it leads you.
it's long and it can be lonely and exhausting, but it so, so worth it.
i hope.
