displacing panera for the holy roman church

so i have my weekly writing intensive day tomorrow, which should actually be pretty fantastic because this week i started some lame attempts at chapter two of the new project.  i also want to try and crank out another CSFTS story.  unfortunately i'm leaving the enchanting aroma of fresh-baked bread behind for the carcinogenic aroma of fresh smoked cigarettes—-i'm relocating to my fathers house for writing day. (in appreciation of father's day weekend.)

alright, well as far as the new project goes, it's actually a rewriting of an old story that i wrote and dearly loved but that doesn't quite work.  it's now being pulled into modern times, and i want it to have a neo-gothic feel.  set at a new england boarding school.  i also accidentally misappropriated the leading man's name, so i'm testing out new ones.

the character is a teen ager, late teens, a little dark and intense, possessive, protective.  he's wealthy but never fits with the hot crowd, mostly because its importance doesn't really register with him.  he's powerful because he's very driven and passionate, with the skills and resources to support that.  he refuses to give into any semblance of regret, despite some pretty nasty things in his past.

so here are my thoughts.  roark, obvious ayn rand reference, which i like but i feel like it suggests red hair.  i love heathcliff, but it's too specific, and heath is too ledger.  cliff is too....bring it on?

archer, hunter, ryder, for my action verbs turned names.

aramis, dante (which i love but can't really use because i stole it from a friend) tristan and gabriel for my old school hot names (which is the bent i'm going for, really)

and for the hodge podge remainder, xavier, finnian (a little too close to a character in my current story tho) hawk and gavin.

any favorites?

it's strange rewriting tarian.  in so many ways i learn so much about myself through my novels, but tarians original (read, will never see the light of day) form started out explaining a terrible part of someone else's life and ended up being all about myself.  i'm sure it won't turn out that raw this time, because that was a story that, in it's original form, was never meant to be told.  tarian herself, however, has a lot more to say—and i'm pretty excited to contrast and compare, and see how much more i can learn about myself from every word i write for her.

we'll see.

I like Gavin myself, I also really like Dante. I am so excited to hear about your new piece and I can't wait until you throw us a few tidbits out here!

    Best of Luck!
